Does tattoo removal hurt?
Yes. Tattoo removal can be a bit painful. However, no anesthesia is generally needed. Topical anesthetic or injections of local anesthetic are available if the patient is uncomfortable. After the treatment, skin will feel sunburned and sensitive.
What are the risks with tattoo removal?
There is a risk is infection, but it is very low. There is also a risk of hypopigmentation, which means the skin tone will appear lighter in the treated area. To reduce these risks, carefully examine the performance history of the medical spa and the individual performing the treatment.
How many treatments until I see results?
Treatments take anywhere from a couple minutes to two hours. It can take anywhere from five to fifteen treatments depending on the size of the tattoo.

Laser tattoo removal is the preferred method to safely and effectively remove unwanted ink. Creams have much less success and rarely work at all. Laser is currently the only proven way to erase unwanted tattoos.
